Field Trips
Rise & Shine is big on field trips. We attempt to go on one field trip every month. A field trip gives children great experiences away from their home, into their community, to learn. (Check out the Gallery for pictures!)
The IDEA requires that early intervention services be provided, to the maximum extent appropriate, in natural environments. These services can be provided in another setting only when early intervention cannot be achieved satisfactorily for the infant or toddler in a natural environment. Schedule & Cost
Field trips are planned annually and the schedules are subject to change based on children’s and families needs. Write us an email if you have questions or concerns about dates.
Rise & Shine will cover the cost of the child that is receiving the services and one parent, but the whole family is welcome to come and get involved! Most field trips are Potlucks. 🙂
Benefits
Although field trips are a lot of fun for everyone involved they serve very important learning opportunities for the children and families. Getting involved in community activities is crucial. Here are some examples of enhanced benefits gained from participating in our scheduled field trips.
Social Skills
Allows children to meet other children that are being served by Rise & Shine and provides opportunities to play with other children in their development level.
Language Skills
All activities are language based and field trips provides opportunities for children to express themselves and identify objects.
Parent Connection
It gives parents a way to meet other parents who are going through the same situation. It allows the parents to communicate and learn from each other, as well as feed off each others ideas and mistakes.
Sensory
Field trips are a great tool to use to provide children with real world experiences, which offer multiple places to stimulate different areas of the child’s senses. The children can explore areas and see different things, as well as get opportunities to touch different textures.
