Our Vision

is to promote and ensure continuous learning and development by providing education and resources for the deaf and hard of hearing(DHH) and developmentally delayed infants and toddlers: To create positive learning experiences, continued age appropriate development, and successful communication for all children and families through the use of proven educational and developmental techniques and methods.

Our Mission

is to prepare deaf and hard of hearing children for success with a strength-based approach and to continuously empower families in a partnership that focuses on child development through practical and functional outcomes. To improve family life by supporting the parents in meeting their responsibilities as they nurture and enhance child development with the support of specialized early intervention service.

Rise & Shine will create opportunities for full participation of children with hearing impairment and/or developmental delays by guiding the parent to help their child to reach full potential through the highest quality home-and community-based therapy services.

The Service We Provide

The services we provide are offered in Ventura County (including: Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Paula, Fillmore, Ojai, Camarillo, Moorpark, Port Hueneme, Point Mugu, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Simi Valley). These services mainly include Early Intervention In-Home and Early Intervention Community-Based Groups, but before we can move forward we must first do a Developmental Evaluation.

Developmental Evaluation

We evaluate deaf and hard of hearing children, as well as communicate with parents with hearing impairments, incorporating their priorities and concerns into the report. We provide a multidisciplinary evaluation of the child, focusing on all areas of development (gross motor, fine motor, cognitive, language, self-help, social-emotional skills); family directed assessment showing the child’s strengths and weaknesses and identification of services appropriate to meet the child’s needs. Evaluation will include the client’s basic medical history, family information, and the milestones in each area of development.

Early Intervention

Home Visits

A support and educational system for children under 3 years old focusing on children with hearing loss and developmental delays; it assures families will receive resources, education and support to maximize each child’s physical, communicative, cognitive, and social-emotional development while respecting the diversity of families and communities.

Early Intervention

Community-Based Groups

A support and educational system for children focusing on clients with hearing loss, and developmental delays. Clients will have opportunities within the community (e.g. parks, beach, museums, etc.) to become aware of what their areas have to offer families. The community-based program strengthens family’s culture, identity, and ability to function within a multicultural society. Rise and Shine will mobilize formal and informal resources to support child and family development within the family’s community.

Parent & Sibling Training

The Real Key to Success

In order for there to be sustainable growth for the child it’s important to build strong habits that persist over time. These habits must be repeated for years and that means building an infrastructure within the family that supports this on going growth. That’s why we focus so heavily on training parents and siblings with the habits necesary to help for years to come.

Some of the education we provide to parents and care takers are;  basic life skills to improve everyday life, classes for American Sign Language and we teach both parent and children’s rights regarding history and laws concerning disabilities (ADA, IDEA, Section 504, NCLB).

We believe it is paramount for parents, siblings and care takers to know as much as they can to ensure success. We want to connect you with other people in your area with similar challenges so you can build a strong network and community, so you’ll always have someone to turn to if you have questions. It makes everything easier and more enjoyable. You are not alone!
